Cure for Constipation – Herbal Healing

Posted By kymom on December 31, 2011

When you think of constipation, you associate it with either the absence of a bowel movement after several days or pain and straining with a bowel movement.  There is not a clear definition of when you are constipated, because everyone is different.  Your bathroom habits may be different from mine.

You will know if you are constipated if your bowel movements become irregular or more infrequent.  Or if you have pain with the passage of stools and still feel full after going to the bathroom.

There are many causes of constipation.  For many, the common thread is lifestyle choices, such as eating too much processed foods, not exercising regularly and a lack of hydration from not drinking enough water.  There are other factors, though, such as pregnancy and other medical conditions.  Certain medications can also cause constipation.

There are those who have a condition known as chronic constipation.  Chronic constipation can be hard to live with.  It causes difficulty with your bowel movements anytime you go to the bathroom.  If you commit to a lifestyle change, you can cure chronic constipation.  Very often it is the result of poor lifestyle choices such as unhealthy eating patterns.  Laxatives will also give some relief.

Herbal medicines have been shown to aid constipation.  They are becoming more popular as a form of a natural treatment for constipation.  The most commonly used herbs for treatment of constipation are Aloe Vera, Dandelion and Passiflora.  They can be used for occasional bouts of constipation or chronic constipation.  Side effects are not a problem with these herbs.

There are also tablet forms of these herbal products.  Good quality herbs are contained in each tablet.  You can adjust your dose depending on the severity of your constipation.

Lifestyle improvements such as eating healthier, exercising regularly and drinking more water combined with herbal supplements should give relief to constipation.
