Chronic Constipation: How to Cure it Naturally

We are all likely to endure a round of constipation, difficulty in having a bowel movement,  at some time or another.    When constipation strikes on an occasional basis it is best for you to try a natural remedy.
If you are a victim of chronic constipation, which is having the symptoms of constipation for at least 3 days of a 3 month period, a visit to the doctor may be necessary.  Constipation can be a sign of a more serious health problem.   Xrays may be neccesary as well as some lab tests.

Here are some of the more common remedies for constipation:

*  Fiber – If you eat the recommended daily allowance of 6-8 servings of vegetables and fruit, along with a few servings of whole grain foods, you will be sure to get enough fiber.  Fiber is necessary to put bulk in the waste in your body and help it move through the intestinal tract.

* Exercise - Even a nice 30 minute walk everyday will provide enough stimulation to help with constipation and overall digestive health.  Not to mention the help it will give you with maintaining a normal weight.

* Acupuncture – This is helpful for chronic constipation and has been around for hundreds of years for all kinds of health problems.

* Natural teas – Senna and aloe are natural plants that can be used as ingredients for natural teas.  These teas made of natural herbs can be used as a treatment for chronic constipation.  Since long term use of these natural herbs can have some side effects, it is wise not to use them for extended periods of time.

* Flax Seeds – These nutty flavored seeds are packed with fiber and omega 3 fatty acids.  They will help to keep chronic constipation under control while also being good for your heart!  Use them in foods of all types or put them in a protein shake.  This is a great form of nutrition that is convenient and flexible.

* Water – Be sure to keep your body hydrated for optimum digestion.  The recommended number of ounces to drink per day is half of your body weight.
