Bloating and Gas: Natural Cure

When I get home in the afternoon (or maybe the early evening), I am usually starving and may stop at the kitchen to eat before I even change my clothes!  But soon after my appetite is finally satisfied, I begin having uncomfortable bloating and gas that makes me feel like the Good Year Blimp.  What can I do to keep this from happening to me?

Luckily, the occasional discomfort of bloating and gas is not usually the signs of a more serious illness.  It more often is just an imbalance of our bodies that we have caused ourselves by disrupting the acid/alkaline balance of our digestive tracts.

Here are some tips to help us all avoid that uncomfortable feeling after we eat:

* Saliva is alkaline and is the first part of the digestive process.  The more you chew your food, the more saliva gets mixed in, aiding in digestion and forcing you to eat more slowly.  Try to chew each bite at least 20 times.

* We are always being reminded to drink more water!  However, when you are eating a meal, you should drink as little as possible.  Liquids will dilute the alkalinity and prevent good digestion.

* Gum chewing should be limited to right before you eat or right after.  If you chew gum between meals it will produce stomach acid that you don’t need.

* If you drink your liquids at very hot or very cold temperatures, it can lower your enzyme production.  Try to drink liquids at room temperature when you can.

* Don’t drink coffee with meals.  Coffee has a high acid content and will disturb proper digestion.

* Eat some form of raw food with each meal for an extra enzyme boost to help digestion.

* Use a probiotic supplement.  They are friendly bacteria that promote a healthy colon and aid in digestion.  They are also helpful as protection for diarrhea and constipation.

Follow these tips to help cure your bloating and gas in a natural way!
